My name is Arch Magee, and in addition all of the other things I do, I'm also a certified Transformative Mediator through the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation and have worked as a full-time Mediation Specialist at the City of Dayton Mediation Center in the past.
Throughout my career and in many of the various positions I have held, I have been studying, teaching about, and helping people work to resolve conflict for nearly two decades. I've mediated disputes everywhere from the top of a skyscraper in Chicago to the streets of Dayton, OH, and I've led trainings for people out of state, and even in other countries, including in Bosnia & Herzegovina.
In addition to my private mediation practice, I also teach political science and history at Wright State University and Sinclair Community College.
While I specialize in divorce/dissolution mediation, I have done many different types of mediations, facilitations, and trainings, and I provide a number of other services, such as strategic planning, teambuilding, and more. Please check out the information below to learn more about me and my experience, as well as the services I provide.

Conflict can be scary, frustrating, stressful, and cause problems within any relationship or organization. I work with individuals, couples, and groups to help them work through conflict using the Transformative Approach to conflict, a unique and smaller subset of the mediation field. The Transformative Approach puts you in the driver's seat and empowers you to make the decisions that are most in line with your core values. The goal is not to "resolve" conflict in a traditional sense, but rather to transform it and help you move from conflict to conversation as best you can.
You can learn more at the link below by checking out the video below, which was produced by the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation.
I recently co-authored a book with other members of the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation, a transformative mediation think tank.
If you'd like to receive an email update when it's released, please contact me using the form below to be added to the list, or simply fill out this quick form.

I'm a certified Transformative Mediator through the Institute for the Study of Conflict Resolution. My goal is to help you manage the conflict in your life and get beyond the challenges in your relationship and/or those facing your organization. I have many years of experience in Transformative Mediation and have mediated many types of disputes. My specialty is in helping couples end their marriages through dissolution (instead of divorce).
I'm also a contributing author to Co-Creating Conversations: Transformative Dialogue in Communities and Organizations, in which I wrote a chapter on my experience serving as a facilitator for the Use of Force Committee during Dayton's police reform efforts. The book is coming out in 2024 and being published by Rowan and Littlefield.
One-on-one conflict coaching is for individuals who are stuck in conflict and unsure about how best to resolve it. I'll work with you and help you figure out the path out of that conflict while providing support in your decision-making process.
With years of mediation experience under my belt, I look forward to helping you and the others you are in conflict with work through the Transformative Mediation process to arrive at an outcome that maximizes your autonomy and your ability to find connection with those you are experiencing conflict with. I have done all types of mediations over the years, but I specialize in helping couples save (or end) their relationships amicably.
I have helped facilitate discussion for a variety of different groups and a wide array of purposes, including helping a religious group clarify and better define its purpose and mission, to helping the City of Dayton facilitate community discussion around police reform. I can help your group or community design a process that moves you forward collectively.
I have written multiple successful grants, with my crowning achievement being a $120,000 US Department of State grant that brought 18 students and three teachers from Bosna & Herzegovina to Dayton, OH, the home of the Dayton Peace Accords, which brought about an end to the war in BiH. I look forward to working with your organization to help you find the grant dollars needed to fulfill your mission and goals.
Are you a non-profit leader who is stuck and unsure about which direction to go in? I provide one-on-one (or group) consulting sessions where I'll help you pinpoint your major issues and develop a plan to successfully navigate those and deal with them effectively. Consulting sessions are $50 per hour.
I have successfully trained many others to become Transformative Mediators, and I can help you and/or your group as well. As someone who is certified by the Institute for the Study of Conflict Transformation, I can help you get certified as well, opening up the possibility of many different career paths. Please reach out so we can discuss further what that looks like for you and/or your group!
I have developed and worked on plans for small and large non-profit organizations, governmental organizations, 501c3s, educational/arts-based organizations, and more. I would love to use Transformative Techniques of group facilitation, in addition to many other "tools" in my toolkit, to help your organization develop a plan that takes into consideration all of your unique attributes and advantages.
I've done strategic plans for:
I have led a "Responding Effectively to Conflict" training for many people, including overseas. This training is designed to help people understand what happens to them individually when they experience conflict and then give them the tools to manage it more effectively from a place of strength and responsiveness. The training can be adapted/designed to fit the unique needs of your organization. A one-hour training is $60 and a two-hour training is $100.
In addition to being a mediator in private practice, I also do a lot of other things, including:
